Tiny however disconnects herself and moves forward in a sonic fast lifestyle that helps to keep her from experiencing daily irritations and exacerbations. Kyle, who is described by Tiny as “a wooden doll come to life”, is a master manipulator and psychopath/sociopath who hooks up with her, so they can experience bliss in their private secluded inner sanctum. When the two are together they anchor each other. With intertwined souls their heat and passion reach a critical mass where their senses are bombarded unlike anything, the strongest opiate on the earth could provide. When Tiny decides to break free from Kyle, he goes into a controlled calculating revenge mode, systematically hunting down significant people in Tinys life, in order to hurt her. Tiny vs Kyle is penetrating, thrilling and suspenseful. I really enjoyed this book, was pulled right in and didn’t want to put it down! Desert Nights is a thrilling journey full of twists and turns. The author's attention to detail will have you cheering characters on throughout this page turner.
Totally sucked in by page 2. The characters are so real it makes the story pretty unnerving - in a good way! This novel will make you totally forget everything that is going around you.
Stackhouse has written a hold-your-breath novel that kept me turning pages and rooting for Tiny right to the end. Her characters are funny, witty and, in some instances, deeply flawed, but they kept me rooting for them all the way. Stackhouse's protagonist, Tiny's life is riddled with mistakes made repeatedly, but somehow, despite her seeming stupidity, she still comes across as loveable and vunerable. A great read!!
This novel has a very interesting cast of characters you rarely read, road musicians and drifters who fall victim to a psycho. The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is that I reserve that for people like Dickens and Steinbeck. The funniest thing about this book to me was that it was written by a girl named Courtney. She ain't like any Courtney I ever met.
Disclaimer, I am a friend of the author. But even if I wasn't, I would say that this is a gripping read. Our protagonist Tiny has quite a tale to tell. The novel is non-linear which only further pulls the reader into this harrowing adventure involving bands, love, and murder. The story unfolds storyline by storyline forcing the reader to become more invested waiting for the timelines to converge.
I love the way the stories are intertwined and switch between chapters so it keeps the pages turning! I didn't really know what was happening yet but it didn't even matter. More is revealed throughout the story and the pieces start fitting together. Definitely some stomach clenching scenes. Miss Stackhouse- I am impressed with your imagination, attention to detail that totally paints the picture in my mind, the gnarly psycho/sociopathic killer with his prey scenes.. I also enjoyed hearing the familiar towns and places where the story takes place.
